On 18 June 2025, the Scottish Government announced it will change the criteria for the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment this year. This means the previous plan to provide every pension age household in Scotland with a payment has now been abolished.

This is the Scottish equivalent for the Winter Fuel Payment paid to those living in England and Wales.
