About Pride in Place

Methil and Buckhaven have been selected to receive £20m of Pride in Place funding to support community-led regeneration over the next 10 years.

This funding is intended to support communities to improve their place and address local priorities, by making lasting and positive changes. While success will look different in every place, the strategic objectives of the Pride in Place programme are to:

• build stronger communities
• create thriving places
• empower people to take back control

Methil and Buckhaven were selected for Pride in Place because they meet the program's criteria, including showing needs, measured through the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) and the Community Needs Index (CNI).

We are looking for individuals who have an interest in improving Methil and Buckhaven, to apply to be a Neighbourhood Board member for the Pride in Place (PiP) Programme.

The Neighbourhood Board will:

• Champion community priorities and lead the development of a PiP  neighbourhood plan for the area, which reflects local needs and aspirations
• Agree and oversee a programme of significant investment in the local area over the next ten years
• Drive collaboration, by bringing together partners
• Ensure community engagement is at the heart of the PiP investment proposals

This is a voluntary role and is aimed at  someone with:

• Strong local ties to Methil or Buckhaven
• Good communication skills
• The ability to work as part of a team
• A passion for making a lasting difference

Key Responsibilities

Board members will:

• Attend and participate in regular  inclusive and accessible board meetings
• Assist with the development of a  PiP neighbourhood plan for Methil and Buckhaven
• Support meaningful community engagement activities. This can include public meetings, online engagements, community conversations, workshops, and resident forums
• Work closely with the Neighbourhood Board chair, local MP, councillors and community to champion community leadership in all forms
• Ensure any decisions made by the Neighbourhood Board reflect local diversity and lived experiences
• Oversee effective reporting and programme management
• Follow the PiP Neighbourhood Board Code of Conduct
