During 2025/26, organisations within the Fife Violence Against Women Partnership (FVAWP) continued to work together to raise awareness of violence against women and girls, increase understanding of the impact of abuse and highlight the specialist support available across Fife. Through a programme of events and engagement activity, partner organisations shared expertise, celebrated achievements and provided opportunities for professionals, survivors and communities to learn from lived experience and evidence-based practice.

A key focus of the partnership's work has been supporting member organisations to promote their services and increase public and professional awareness of the issues affecting women and survivors. During the year, Fife Women's Aid and Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project (KASP) delivered significant events that brought together people from across sectors to improve understanding, strengthen networks and highlight the importance of specialist support services.

In November 2025, Fife Women's Aid hosted a full-day event at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews. The event featured expert speakers including Dr Briege Nugent, who presented findings from local research involving women at high risk, and Professor Jane Monckton Smith, whose work on the Domestic Homicide Timeline has helped shape understanding of escalating patterns of abuse and risk. The event created a space for learning, reflection and discussion, helping attendees develop a deeper understanding of domestic abuse and the experiences of those affected by it.

The impact of the event was reflected in feedback from participants. One attendee described how the information shared helped them better understand their own experience of abuse and challenged long-held feelings of shame and self-blame. They spoke of gaining greater awareness of warning signs, understanding the behaviour of perpetrators and feeling better equipped to support others. Experiences such as these demonstrate the importance of creating opportunities for learning that are both informative and empowering.

A total of 85 people attended the Fife Women's Aid event, and evaluation feedback showed that 96.43% of participants reported gaining a better understanding of domestic abuse. These outcomes highlight the value of bringing together research, professional expertise and lived experience to increase awareness and support prevention efforts across communities.

During the same year, Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project marked an important milestone by celebrating 30 years of providing support services to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The anniversary event brought together professionals, elected members, people with lived experience, partners, supporters and local communities to recognise the organisation's achievements and the impact of its work over three decades.

The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the resilience of survivors and the commitment of those who support them. Participants described the occasion as moving and inspiring, highlighting the compassion, dedication and professionalism that underpin KASP's work. One contributor reflected on the experience of sharing KASP's journey with the wider community, describing the event as a powerful demonstration of support, understanding and solidarity.

More than 105 people attended the anniversary celebration, demonstrating the strong relationships that KASP has built with communities and partner organisations across Fife. The event also helped raise awareness of the support available to survivors while highlighting the importance of specialist services in supporting recovery, wellbeing and resilience.

These events demonstrate the strength of partnership working across the Fife Violence Against Women Partnership. By supporting organisations to share learning, promote services and engage with communities, the partnership is helping to build greater understanding of violence against women and girls, challenge harmful attitudes and improve awareness of the support available to those affected by abuse.

This work contributes to the Plan for Fife priority of Community Wealth Building and Leading Economic Recovery and supports ambitions around improving community safety, reducing preventable harm and increasing community involvement in shaping and supporting local services. By strengthening knowledge, promoting specialist support and creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue, partners are helping to create safer and more informed communities across Fife.

Looking ahead, the Fife Violence Against Women Partnership will continue to promote the work of its member organisations, share learning across services and gather evidence about the impact of partnership working. Through ongoing collaboration and awareness-raising activity, partners will continue to strengthen support for women, children and survivors while contributing to Fife's shared ambition of preventing violence against women and girls and creating safer communities for everyone.
