During 2025/26, Jackson Accident Repair Centre, a long-established family business in Kelty, strengthened its growth and sustainability ambitions through a coordinated package of support from Fife Council and partner organisations. Working with Business Gateway Fife, the Council’s Employability Team and Skills Development Scotland, the initiative demonstrates how targeted business support can help local companies expand, modernise and create jobs.

Founded in 1969, the business has grown into a trusted local employer with a team of skilled technicians, now led by the second generation of the Jackson family. With ambitions to expand into new contracts and increase its presence in the insurance repair market, the company engaged with Business Gateway Fife to access advice, funding and connections to support its next phase of development.

A key focus of support has been improving sustainability and reducing operating costs. The business installed energy-efficient airtight shutter doors to improve thermal efficiency and reduce emissions associated with paintwork. This investment was supported by grant funding, helping the company modernise its facilities while contributing to its net zero ambitions.

Further investment included the installation of a 32.5 kW solar panel and battery storage system, supported through the Fife Investment Fund. This has helped reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, supporting long-term environmental sustainability while strengthening the resilience of the business.

Alongside infrastructure improvements, the business also benefited from employability and skills support. Through the Fife Job Contract, funding was secured to support recruitment, while a Skills for Growth review helped identify future workforce needs and training opportunities. This joined-up approach ensured that business growth was supported by investment in people as well as premises.

The impact of this support is clear. The business has been able to invest in its facilities, improve energy efficiency and create new employment opportunities, while positioning itself for further growth. Financial contributions from both grant funding and the business itself demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation and long-term sustainability.

The project directly supports the Plan for Fife priorities of community wealth building and addressing the climate emergency. It also contributes to ambitions around improving economic activity and employment, while helping local businesses transition to more sustainable ways of operating.
