Free School Meals payments

Families who are receiving free school meals will receive a payment of £24 per child for the October holidays. This is for those who have applied and are eligible due to household income, not the universal free school meals automatically provided for all children in P1 to P5. The payment will be paid direct into their bank account on the 9th October.

Parents not in receipt of free school meals should be encouraged to use The Fife Benefit Checker to ensure they are not missing out on any entitlement.

Transfer of Benefits reaches a milestone

Over 200,000 disabled adults have now had their benefit award transferred to Social Security Scotland from the Department for Work and Pensions.

Transfer of benefits reaches major milestone - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

A significant improvement was ending the time-consuming and demanding re-assessments carried out by the DWP to decide if someone’s support should continue.

In Scotland these have been replaced with light touch reviews that ensure people are getting the right support without requiring them to provide unnecessary information or face a private sector assessment.

Communities Tackling Hardship

Joseph Rowntree has created short films showcasing the work of communities tackling hardship - click on the links to view :

The films highlight real examples of communities and local services coming together to tackle hardship in their neighbourhoods.
