Profile

Kingdom Community Bank is a credit union - a not-for-profit financial co-operative owned and controlled by members.  The purpose of the bank is to promote the financial wellbeing of people living or working in Fife.  The bank encourages good money management, saving and the responsible use of credit.  The profits made are re-invested into products and services or distributed amongst the members and all money saved is fully protected through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (exactly the same as mainstream banks).

Living Wage Accreditation

As an ethical organisation the Kingdom Community Bank already pays above the level of the Living Wage but applied for accreditation to publicly state their commitment.  The bank is one of many businesses in Glenrothes who believe it is important that employers in Glenrothes, and across Fife, should recognise the importance of paying staff a real living wage.  The more employers that do it, the better for everybody.  Paying the Living Wage results in more money in our local economy, keeps more people in work and reduces the impacts of poverty.

Sofia Dogan Interim Manager says:

“As a community-owned ethical organisation we’re proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. Our staff can see that our Board is committed to paying no less than the real Living Wage, which will increase as the cost of living increases.

In-work poverty and the expensive cost of credit affects a large proportion of Fifers putting pressure on family budgets. We are offering affordable low-cost loans and the profits we make are re-invested into our products and services or distributed amongst our members.”
